Introduction to Beekeeping
DCBA values educating the community. Each year we offer an introductory course where you will be:
- Invited to join our beekeeping community who values sharing information with each other.
- Invited to participate in DCBA apiary workdays.
- Assisted in deciding if you want to become a beekeeper.
- Prepared to set up a colony of bees.
- Supported by local beekeepers if you set up a colony.
- Prepared to get a hive through their first winter.
- Prepared for the Certification Exams of the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association’s Certification
DCBA is offering two courses for Bee School 2023 – online on nine Tuesday evenings or in person on two Saturdays.
ONLINE Class
The online course will be weekly on Tuesday evenings with an in-person workshop at DCBA’s Apiary.

IN PERSON Class
The in person course will be held on two Saturdays at the Durham County Cooperative Extension with an additional half day at the DCBA apiary.
